NOTICE TO ALL TENANTS — RIVERGATE BUSINESS PARK

From 1 October, waste collection at Rivergate will change. General waste will be collected on Tuesday and Friday mornings, rather than daily. Recycling will be collected on Wednesday.

Each unit has been issued with two additional bins to allow for the longer gap between collections. Tenants who expect to generate more waste than the bins can hold should contact the site office to arrange an additional collection, which is charged at 450,000 VND per visit.

Cardboard must be flattened before being placed in the recycling bins. Bins left outside the marked bays will not be emptied.

Dear Site Office,

I have read the notice about the new collection schedule. I am afraid the arrangement will not work for us. We are a printing business and the great majority of our waste is offcut paper and cardboard, which we generate in large volumes every day.

Two extra bins will not be enough, and paying 450,000 VND for extra collections several times a week is not something we can absorb.

Before I look at outside contractors, could I ask whether a different arrangement is possible for units that produce mainly recyclable waste? Our paper waste is clean and already separated.

Dear Mr Morrison,

Thank you for writing, and for setting out the position so clearly. You are not the only tenant in that situation — the two units next to you have raised much the same point.

We do have an option that is not mentioned in the notice, because it only applies to clean separated paper and card. A merchant collects that material directly, and because it has value they charge nothing for the collection. The condition is a minimum of 200 kilograms per pickup, which is why we did not offer it to every tenant.

If you and your two neighbours were willing to share a collection point, I am confident you would meet that minimum comfortably. Shall I put the three of you in touch?
